Name and Address Cleaner
Clean up a mailing or contact list in one pass. Split "Smith, John A. Jr." into first, middle, last and suffix, fix ALL CAPS and lowercase names, turn "Massachusetts" into MA, and put back the leading zero Excel removes from ZIP codes like 02134. New columns are added next to your originals, so nothing is overwritten unless you ask.
How it works and privacy
Names are split with simple rules for titles, suffixes, "Last, First" order and last-name particles. States are looked up in a built-in table, ZIPs are padded and reformatted, and street text is respaced and recapitalized. The page is plain HTML and JavaScript that runs on your device: your data is read and processed in this browser tab and is never uploaded, stored on a server or shared. There are no tracking cookies. The only network request this page can make is the optional Pro license check, which sends just your license key to Gumroad.

Questions
How do I split a full name into first and last name?
Pick the column that holds full names. The tool adds Prefix, First, Middle, Last and Suffix columns. It understands "John A. Smith Jr.", "Smith, John A. Jr." and titles like Dr. and Mrs., and keeps last-name particles like "van" and "de la" with the last name.
Will it capitalize names like McDonald and O'Brien correctly?
Yes for the common patterns: names starting with Mc, O' and D', plus a short list of well-known Mac names such as MacArthur. Names that are already in mixed case, like DeAndre, are left as typed. Unusual names may still need a manual check.
Why did my ZIP codes lose their leading zero, and can this fix it?
Excel treats ZIP codes as numbers and drops leading zeros, so 02134 becomes 2134. This tool pads 3 and 4 digit ZIPs back to 5 digits and formats 9 digit ZIPs as 12345-6789. Save the result as CSV and import it as text so Excel does not strip them again.
Does it validate that an address is real?
No. It standardizes formatting only: spacing, capitalization, state codes, ZIP format and optional street abbreviations. It does not check addresses against postal records.
Is my contact list uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
